13th International Workshop on Radiative Properties of Hot Dense Matter

Nov 10-14, 2008 at TBA, Santa Barbara California United States
The purpose of the meeting is to bring together a relatively small, international group of the leading researchers in x-ray radiative transfer, line shapes, dense plasma spectroscopy, atomic kinetics and plasma processes, to identify current problems in these fields and directions for future research. The framework will be a series of oral sessions in which a large fraction of the participants will make presentations. Additional unstructured time will be included to discuss and plan future efforts.

17th International Symposium on Regulatory Peptides

Jan 25-28, 2009 at Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort, Santa Barbara California United States
The symposium will be divided into 9 thematic sessions, placing emphasis in GPCR conformation, trafficking, signal transduction, physiology, neuroscience and cell signaling of specific peptides. Initiating each session, an invited speaker will present a lecture (30 min lecture and 10 min discussion) emphasizing the state of the field and their current contributions. The lecture will be followed by 3 oral presentations (15-min) pre-selected from submitted abstracts by the program committee. The presentations will be chosen based on scientific novelty and merits with preference to young new investigators; the remaining abstracts will be presented in evening poster sessions.

The lecture will be followed by 3 oral presentations (15-min) pre-selected from submitted abstracts by the program committee. The presentations will be chosen based on scientific novelty and merits with preference to young new investigators; the remaining abstracts will be presented in evening poster sessions.
