The Hotel School General Managers Program (GMP January) 2008

Jan 12-22, 2009 at Statler Hotel, Ithaca New York United States
The General Managers Program (GMP) is a 10-day experience for hotel general managers and their immediate successors. GMP delivers the expertise, environment and experience that puts you on course to hospitality leadership through learning. GMP leadership is real. The School of Hotel Administration is the world's leading hospitality-management school, and the oldest such school in the United States. We help shape the standards by which our industry has grown and changed. The renowned General Managers Program is designed to share that success with you. GMP learning is relevant. If you want pertinent, specific, applicable, and workable solutions to real-time issues and demands, you want to be at the General Managers Program. Whether you are a seasoned general manager or enhancing your skills to become a general manager within the next year, this program offers a management and strategic thinking toolkit designed to take you to the next level of your career. GMP is in a class by itself. The GMP takes on strategic property-level issues with depth and precision. You will concentrate on hotel-management issues and collaborate to expand the foundation of your knowledge, broaden your viewpoint, and produce new solutions to the problems you face. As business transcends continental boundaries, so do we at Cornell. Through our interactive classroom discussions and informal breakaway chat sessions, participants dissect theory-based ideas and learning, and relate these to current issues in the industry. This program shapes decision-makers into strategic thinkers.

84th Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC) 2009

Apr 2-5, 2009 at Cornell School of Hotel Administration, Ithaca New York United States
Hotel Ezra Cornell is an annual weekend-long educational conference put on by the students of the Cornell School of Hotel Administration for leaders of the hospitality industry. Comprised of educational seminars, leisure activities, and food and beverage events, the weekend strikes a thoughtful balance between education and entertainment. The purpose of the weekend is for students to practice the skills they have learned in the classroom and to showcase their talents to industry professionals. Hotel Ezra Cornell dates back to 1925 when Dean Howard Meek took a group of students to New York City to manage the Hotel Astor for a day. Upon returning to Ithaca, the students decided to hold a "hotel for a day" to invite industry pioneers to Ithaca to see the new hotel program. On May 7, 1926, the first Hotel Ezra Cornell was held at Risley Hall, which was a women's dormitory at the time.
