Quantitative Genetics And Genomics

Feb 22-27, 2009 at Hotel Galvez , Galveston Texas United States
Quantitative genetics aims to link phenotypic variation to its underlying genetic basis in order to better understand and predict genetic composition and long term change within natural, agricultural, and human populations. Traditionally built upon statistical abstractions of genetic effects, the field is now rapidly advancing by making use of recent developments in genetic technology to reveal explicit links between genes and complex phenotypes, and therefore serves as a focal point bringing together many emerging areas of genetics, genomics, physiology, statistics and computational biology. This synthesis is already having a large impact on the areas of evolutionary biology, plant and animal breeding, and the analysis of human disease. The strength of the Gordon Conference on "Quantitative Genetics and Genomics" has historically been the bringing together of leaders in each of these fields to explore areas of shared interest and cutting edge developments with the potential to affect all researchers within the broad field of quantitative genetics. Building upon the tremendous success of our conferences in recent years, we will again focus on many cutting-edge developments in the field, including whole genomic approaches to understanding g

Gaseous Ions: Structures, Energetics & Reactions

Mar 1-6, 2009 at Hotel Galvez , Galveston Texas United States
The Gaseous Ions: Structures, Energetics and Reactions Gordon Research Conference is justifiably recognized as the premier meeting to discover the state of the art in a wide range of disciplines where gas phase ions play a role. Topics vary over a range of interests including those in the conference name, ion formation and destruction, laser interactions, cluster ions, and ion-surface interactions. The meeting tradition of involving scientists engaged in fundamental research in gaseous ions and those who apply these concepts to systems of practical use will be continued. Both theoretical and experimental aspects will be covered extensively. Each session will be organized, as much as possible, to start with a small molecule talk and proceed to talks involving large systems including nanoparticles and biomolecules. The meeting has always brought together top researchers in gaseous ions and funds will be raised to subsidize the participation of post-docs and graduate students

2009 IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom)

Mar 9-13, 2009 at TBA, Galveston Texas United States
PerCom 2009 will provide a high profile, leading edge forum for researchers and engineers alike to present state-of-the-art research in the respective fields of pervasive computing and communications.
